JULIA FALKENSTEIN (D)

MICROBIOM AND WOMEN’S HEALTH – AN AROMATHERAPEUTIC APPROACH
lecture

Women are more often affected by digestive problems. This lecture looks at digestive problems and why women are more often affected, as well as how the gut microbiome plays a role and how we can help women with aromatherapeutic measures.

Stress, stimulants, lack of exercise, inadequate selection and preparation of food have a negative impact on digestion and can result in symptoms such as constipation, nausea, heartburn and a feeling of fullness. At the same time, changes in female hormones, for example during the period or in the months of pregnancy or menopause, often also affect digestion. Women are also most at risk of irritable bowel syndrome.

Digestive problems not only affect the digestive tract, but cause systemic changes in physical, mental and emotional health. A reason to get to the bottom of these complaints and consider the use of aromatherapeutic complementary therapy.

ESTROGENIC AND PROGESTERONE EFFECTS OF ESSENTIAL OILS AND THEIR COMPONENTS
lecture

Estrogen and progesterone are female hormones that affect the menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. Their levels fluctuate in the body either due to natural causes or due to illness/imbalance, affecting women’s health and psychological condition. Aromatherapy can help harmonizing this hormonal cycle. The lecture will be focused on essential oils, which are traditionally described as those with estrogenic and progesterone effects and will describe if the traditional recommendations match available studies.
